 John Long, General Partner, Trellis Partners
John has spent his entire career as an early stage investor in Texas. Prior to co-founding Trellis in 1997, he was a partner of Dakota Venture Management Company, a private investment firm. John spent the first twelve years of his career as a partner with Southwest Venture Partners, one of the pioneering venture capital firms in Texas. While he has focused on early stage information technology companies, he has invested more broadly in life sciences and consumer businesses. At Southwest he had primary responsibility for investments in Chipcom, Dell Computer, Surgical Laser Technologies, Pilot Software, and Garden Ridge. At Trellis he led investments and served as a director of many of the firm’s investments including Works, Wayport, WholeSecurity, and BetweenMarkets. He is currently a director of Zilliant. John has a BEE degree from Georgia Tech and an MBA from the University of Texas.
